State of the Union

Yesterday, President Barack Obama delivered his State of the Union. It was a heavy speech. Considering the current condition of America, there was much it had to achieve.
It did a fantastic job, at least in my opinion. Obama deftly spoke on such issues such as education, the deficit, our two wars, and, of course, the economy. On the first two issues, he laid out intelligent plans to improve both. In education, he went over previous successes, as well as the need to improve instruction in the areas science and technology to compete with other countries, just as was done during the space race, and how to accomplish such reform.
On foreign policy, Obama went over his achievements, as well as what he plans to do to make things better. These plans include a successful pullout from Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as dealing diplomatically with difficult states such as Iran and North Korea.
Most importantly, Obama spoke about the economy, and how to recover from the recession. This involved fiscal policy as well as entrepreneurship. He shared many success stories of the latter.
All in all, it was a great speech. Effective too. In the wake of the address, Obama's approval ratings have gone north of 50% for the first time since spring of 2010. Most of America is once again confident that America can get better.
