Tired

So I'm so hungry. I had tennis this morning and took a shower and now I'm hungry. There's nothing to eat really... We're out of bread, milk, eggs, fruit, snacks, and like everything else... mehhh... I could eat ice cream, but I want real food. So until my sister comes back home with the car I will just have to wait, because I'm too tired to walk to Bel Air or Save Mart... It's like a mile away to each of them... Maybe I'll go take a nap? Idk, I'm just exhausted. I have tennis for like 3 hours every day with nearly an hour of conditioning to start. I hope all of this hard work pays off... I'll find out in a few weeks.

Cien años de soledad...

So today, my family and I went to go relax and read at Barnes and Noble for a while. I decided to use that time to continue reading One Hundred Years of Solitude, one of the many books I have to read over the summer for AP Lit. However, I could not find it in the Literature section. So I walked over to the foreign language section and found a copy of Cien años de soledad (the original Spanish version), sat down, and started reading it. That went interestingly... It's weird to start a book in one language and then continue reading it in another. Also I'm much better at English than I am at Spanish, so I had to read a lot slower. There was a lot of vocabulary I had to take an educated guess at. But for the most part, I understood it. Thank you, 4 years of Spanish classes, for saving me from having to go find an employee and ask him where the English version of the book was.

Summer Homework

Nothing to do today.
So I'm perfecting my reading questions for my summer homework.
Bleh.

Clueless

When I was at Mock Trial practice last night, we were supposed to name some Felonies, and no one could really think of any; as they were giving silly answers, (me included!)

...I should really watch the news more. :P

Deadly Crimes? Nope.

So today, while I was at Mock Trial practice, I got a text from my mom that a shooting had occurred near my house, and to be careful going home. I was pretty concerned, and decided to avoid that street. I did drive past it though, and noticed several police cars, fire trucks, and an armored truck on the scene, as well as what I later learned was a SWAT team. Then, when I got home, I went to KCRA's website to read up on the incident. Apparently, someone started randomly firing a shotgun out of their driveway, resulting in many 911 calls, and the aforementioned emergency forces surrounding the area. A few minutes ago I decided to check back on that story. Here is the link to what it says now: http://www.kcra.com/news/Standoff-ends-in-Rocklin-after-man-fires-pellet-gun/-/11797728/15613756/-/2i515rz/-/index.html Turns out the guy was firing a pellet gun that only sounded like a shotgun. According to the article, no charges will be filed. Typical Rocklin. For a few hours, the neighborhood resembles a major crime scene, until the police realize that their fears were mistaken, and no one even did anything criminal enough to merit a trial.

Read if you would like

Things I don't like
1.Large tattoos' (small one's can be good)
2.Smokers (I had to live with one from France for two Summers, it sucked)
3.Cussing (Harry Styles doesn't like it either)
4. DUBSTEP (I simply hate it. I heard it mixed with a Beatles song, it ruined it)
5. Cream Cheese (This stuff is nasty)
6. Tuna (It smells horrible and tastes even worse)
7. Flakes (If you say you're going to do something, do it! ¡HAZLO!)
8. When people use the incorrect their, they're,there & your, you're (Be smart)
9.  People who only talk to you when they need something (I get this when people want to "check" their math homework)
10. Crowded places (I'm claustrophobic )

Tennis

So I can't go to bed yet because I'm waiting for my hair to dry. Also, dead week is here for tennis, so I am so sore. My legs hurt and I'm tired. I've been going to the courts for at least 4 hours each day this summer. I want to make singles. This has been my goal since I was a freshman. However, only the top 6 girls get to play. As of right now, I am most likely 7. I'm one away. I need to beat someone!!! I want this so badly. Also I've been at the gym doing weights and balance and core and running and I just really want it!!! GAHASL:FKjsldfjlsdfjkl;asdfjk;sdlfjkas;dlfk. Tennis is a major part of my life. It means so much to me. If I don't make singles I will cry. Really. So until I find out where I will be the only thing I can do is continue to try my best(cliche I know, but I don't care), and we'll see where that takes me. It will make or break my senior year.

Hanging Out with Mason Is...

So, Mason Ganz. Last week, we went to the library to work (fun times, reminiscent of freshman year) and hopefully next week, we will study for the SAT together! It's been such a long time since we met - I can barely remember it. We were both freshman, and pretty much extreme (more extreme) versions of our present selves. I was much more energetic and happy and Mason was a lot more silent.

No, serious.

Now we're pretty much WorkaholicBot 101 and the most awesome person ever. I know, I'm so cool...

Just kidding!

I love hanging out with Mason because he is such a kind, intelligent, and thoughtful person. You don't find people like that too often any more I think. Can't wait to work together on the Flash next year.

You best comment, Mr. Ganz.

Got a Lot Done Today

Today I actually got a lot done, which is rare for me during the summer.  I cleaned my room, went to the dentist, did summer homework, and finished this quilt that I have been working on...and I remembered to blog on this. (which is a pretty big accomplishment for me. )  So yay!!  Hopefully I will be able to be productive the rest of this summer too. :)

A Budding Workaholic

Good morning, everyone!

Every day since school's gotten out has been busy for me. I work in downtown Sacramento and attend night classes three days out of the week. The rest of my days are devoted to, in order of most typical.

1) Scholarships
2) Summer homework
3) Preparing extracurricular activities
4) Hanging out with other nerds.

It's been good, but very busy and work-centered. I have recently become worried that maybe my work and activities take too much of a priority over the rest of my life. My mind races a lot and I tend to be very tense all the time - sort of like constant final-exam state. Oh! I got good AP scores though, thank god. I really feel bad though sometimes about the way I live. My friends are all really good people and I don't spend a lot of time with them because I'm so busy.

Gah. Parents are yelling at me. I got to go.

Just One of Those Days

I'm having one of those *meh* days today, where you know you have chores or whatever your supposed to do, but you don't. Before I went to bed last night I was thinking: I'm gonna clean my room tomorrow, maybe do the dishes, and wait! What if I finally finished my Summer Homework too?! That would be great!
.....And now I'm all like: "Mehhhhh. Im gonna make myself pancakes."
End of story.
haha.

Cannibalistic Cereal?

So I just watched a Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal commercial. And the weird thing I have noticed about these commercials is that they seem to show the "crazy squares" eating the other "crazy squares" up. I noticed this awhile back but I really wanted to make sure I wasn't seeing something else. Nope, I was watching correctly! The cinnamon toast crunch cereal "crazy squares" are portrayed as cannibals!!! I have just become very concerned as to what goes on inside of the commercial people's heads when they come up with these things. I just don't know anymore.....

Grapes of Wrath

Over the past year, I heard what a hard book Grapes of Wrath was to read. I became freaked out about it, thinking that I would never be able to read it in the amount of time I had left. But once I started reading it, it became, well, not as interesting as most books that I love, but interesting enough to keep me reading and not dozing off in the middle of the page. I've heard a lot of things about the author, John Steinbeck, and I was not sure about his type of writing and how I would able to stand it, but as I delve deeper into the story and the plot-line itself, I realize that this may not be the normal book that anyone would just pick up for a bit of light reading, but it is definitely a book that will present an unusual ending.

Car Lock

I really know that it's not something to get excited about, but my dad just fixed my car's locking system!! I was just ecstatic about this because whenever I locked my car I would always have a feeling it wasn't totally locked and I would be afraid to use it in case something happened and the door jammed or wouldn't lock. But even though this shouldn't be as exciting as it is for me, it just made me feel happy that my car is now becoming usable again!!!

Lake Tahoe! :))

Went on a mini vacation to Lake Tahoe yesterday with my Aunt Lisa, her wondeful lab dog Sam and I. I had fun! This morning we went to Tahoe lake and played fetch with her dog and I got to see her awesome swimming skills for the first time. Came back to Rocklin today and I'm so TIRED of driving blehhh! I get one day to relax tomorrow then i'm on the road again off to Lake Almanor (about 3 hours away) to visit my Grandma. Gonna stay there for a couple days and just relax and then who knows what other adventures I will be up to! Tonight though at 6pm (even though I am EXHAUSTED,) I'm going to a Mock Trial meeting. Excited for that but also super tired. ): Oh well at least i'm keeping myself busy! Haha.
Also get to start my second year of Water Polo in a couple of weeks! Fun stuff in the future for me! :)

San Francisco

So yesterday I went to San Francisco with my foreign exchange student, Irene (ee-ren-a), and all of the other exchange students. I didn't understand a word anyone was saying because it's all in Spanish. Good thing I took French in school right? Even though everyone was screaming on the bus, I actually fell asleep. I guess that when you don't understand anyone says all day, you zone out. I honestly felt like I was on my own on that bus. It was crazy! I guess the brain tunes out stuff we don't understand.

Foregin Exchange

So, I have a foreign exchange student from Spain staying with my family right now for 1 month, and she is soo nice! Despite a language barrier, I hope we stay in touch once she leaves! It's crazy the amount of pictures I have taken. This month is going to go by so fast! This summer is going by way to fast. Ugh. I wish all year was summer.

Summer ☼

So today was the last day of the little kid summer school I volunteer at. It was really sad :(. I going to miss all of these kids! This was my 3rd year doing it, and it was by far the best year so far. There were only two volunteers, 1 teacher, and 1 aid in the room, so I was always busy. In previous years, there were 5 volunteers, 1 aid, and 1 teacher. I was SO bored those years. Plus, I've gotton a lot closer to the kids this year. I was with 2-3rd graders again this year, and it was great! My first year doing summer school, I was with 5th graders. This was the summer before my freshman year, so the SUPER DUPER WEIRD PART is that when I'm a senior, those 5th graders will be FRESHMAN! Which is super weird because the kids were kids -- little kids, and next year they will be high schoolers. That is bizarre. Especially since 1 kid kept hugging the volunteers, and I know his elementary school was Twin Oaks which eventually goes to Rocklin, so I sorta hope I see him! It will be a VERY strange feeling though.

Almost halfway

Today marks the fifth week of  Summer. After this week we're halfway done. AHHH!!! There is so much to do before school starts. I need to finish all of my AP homework. I have to read 4 more books for Lit, start all of my Stats homework, and reread my Psych book(I had to drop the class at schedule pick up last year because of conflicts). So, that's a lot! I also need to study for SAT's! Blehhh. So much to do. I hope to finish all of my homework before August... hahah let's so how that goes.

Unexpected

This Summer has been one full of surprises, it hasn't gone like I thought it would at all which is a good and a bad thing. I'm coping with the drama, getting sun in my spare time, reading when I can, and going on rollercoasters as much as possible. I went on the new Superman rollercoaster at Six Flags the day it opened which was awesome and I have a season pass, so I can't go enough of it. :D I had my one year anniversary with my boyfriend at the melting pot (ooo, fancy!) and what I have learned is that long term relationships are tough but worth it. I have been using Instagram religiously, I love taking pictures with my phone and if you look at Instagram I think you can learn a lot about me. My most recent adventure started yesterday when I got a call from Marilyn Brown, the lady who sets up French foriegn exchange students and she tells me they have one more girl that needs a host family. At first I was like, no way, but now after seeing how my Summer has belly flopped in some ways...I am really thinking it is just what I need. I love learning about other cultures and the best way to do that is through the people who live there. So I convinced my parents to buy a futon(which are really cheap) for her to sleep on and get this culture exchange going! If all goes as planned (nothing is 100% yet) she would be arriving this friday July 13th, and leaving August 1st. Let us see how the rest of this Summer plays out...

Rewarding Experience.

So far summer has been really fun! The best part-- I am volunteering at the (Kindergarten-3rd grade) summer school for students with special needs again. I did it last year in the same class and had so much fun that I had to do it again!

It is so great working in the classroom with the students. Although at times it can be difficult (due to their learning disabilities), it is very uplifting to watch them learn the material and be intelligent, caring, energetic kids!

I help with everything from teaching them math, doing workbooks with them, reading with them, to going outside and playing basketball with them. It is an all around great time!

Through all of their learning and physical disabilities they are very much happy and eager to learn. Their smiles are contagious and personalities so different.

The teacher, normal aides, and other volunteers I work with are also so genuine, and I have become such great friends with them all. I absolutely love it and am dreading the day that it is over. This is the last week! 5 more days.

These past two summers are experiences that I will never forget and I am so grateful that high school students are given the opportunity to serve at this amazing summer school. It really makes you appreciate life, health, and happiness.

Lie to Me

My family just got a Netflix account and I've been utterly obsessed with it. I've been watching plenty of movies, of course, but I can't stop watching this one show called Lie to Me. It's sort of a detective show, but the main characters solve the crime by simply talking to witnesses. The main character is a master of lie detection. He can tell if a person is lying simply by watching them talk.

The best part though, is that the characters explain how they can tell who is lying, so the viewer feels like a detective. Since I'm pretty clueless at playing detective, this is new and exciting. I feel like Sherlock Holmes(and yes, I've been watching Sherlock also).

I've always liked shows about murder and solving crimes, but this series is nothing like everything I've ever seen before. Unfortunately, I'm a bit of a baby when it comes to scary anything, so I can't watch Lie to Me at night. I'm not even joking. As soon as it gets dark outside, I switch to What NOT to Wear or cartoons.

San Diego and Zip-Lining

Last week was the very first time I went to San Diego. As you can imagine, I was excited but also scared because the group I went with had the whole week jam-packed with events all day long and I didn't want to get tired on my 3rd day there. Thankfully it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be because we got to go to 2 beaches and I got to go zip-lining!!!! Me + heights= not so good, but zip-lining proved to be an experience that I will never forget because it was just that amazing!!! Now I want to go zip-lining everywhere I go! But I also went to the Zoo and Balboa Park! Talk about walking a lot! But at least I will be able to rest up from this trip enough to enjoy going down to Santa Cruz next week with my dad. And then after that vacation, I have another with my mom in Monterey on the last week of July. I just hope I have enough time to finish all of my summer homework for the classes I have next year!

Senior Year

My Senior year is quickly approaching and I couldn't be more excited! I feel like I already have the infamous Senioritis. However I am super excited for Senior year and all the activities; and getting to spend time with all my friends before we all go our own ways. My summer has been so busy I feel like I haven't really gotten to just have complete fun and relax all day. Of course I have had a lot of fun times but its not the same knowing you just have so much to do. I have 5 books to read for AP lit, I work... alot, I still need to paint and redo my room, I need to study for my SATs, figure out where I'm going to apply next year, and pretty much just figure out what I'm going to do with my life. Not a lot right? Hahah. I mean one could say I don't really necessarily need to figure out what I'm going to do in life right this second, and that I have plenty of time. Welllll here's the thing I'm a planner. It's extremely difficult for me to go into a situation where I have no idea whats going on or no plan of what were going to do. I feel like its a control issue. I get so much anxiety when I go into and unexpected situation. Anyway so it's a little difficult for me to think of my future and really have kind of no idea whats going to happen. Of course I have and idea of what I would LIKE to happen but I don't have the for sure confirmation of whats going to happen. I'm not a psychic. Although sometimes I wish I was; but that would just take the fun and adventure out of life. Anyway I am determined to get all my stuff done and still enjoy my summer! Cant wait for next year! Hope you all have a great summer!

I went to the water polo camp down at Pepperdine and it was amazing!!!! I learned so much and it was a lot of fun. :) The next big thing happening this summer is the arrival of the French student that we are hosting. I am so excited for her to come out, like I said on the last post hahaha...
Right now I am hanging out with my sister Sam and her friend Olivia... There isn't too much to say, so BYE! :)
