Origin

So, I have just started working at Origin Coffee and Tea, over by Safeway and Big Spoon. It is so much fun; everyone is so friendly, welcoming, and open.

All of the workers are volunteers because Origin is a non-profit, for girls affected by sex-trafficking.

In a quote from their website, "2.4 million young girls every day are enslaved, raped, dehumanized for pleasure. This is the nightmarish reality which is shocking to us, having triumphed over legalized slavery in the U.S. But the dark and hidden practice of sex trafficking not only exists, it is thriving. This theif of childhood innocence is now the third largest and fastest growing criminal industry in the world. At Orign Coffee and Tea, we simply can't go another day without waking up to the cries of these girls for rescue. We must fight for them, as they cannot fight for themselves. This is not just another cause, this is an emergency. Tell them we're coming."

Origin has had all of their appliances donated, the art on the walls is on display for local artists, merchandise on display belongs to local artists, as well as selling mugs and t-shirts for their charity.

When I went for the orientation a few weeks ago, they were telling us about their shop. There isn't a door on the office, because the owners want to the workers to be able to poke their head in to ask a question, or just to see what's going on.

It's a fantastic coffee shop, with a much better purpose than Starbucks.

And an even bigger plus, is that the coffee tastes so good!

If you ever have time, I would definitely check it out.
