Peter Ramirez

October 20, 2008- The most tragic news in Rocklin shocked and scared most of the Rocklin community and much more. The death of Peter Ramirez was more shocking and terrifying than any other story on the news in the past few months. Many people were close to Peter, he was a student at Breen Elementary, Granite Oaks Middle School, and Whitney High School. He was also a junior, a player on the JV basketball team last year, and a kid who loved to longboard. HIs accident on a minimum day was horrible. I think the situation shocks Rocklin more than anything is because no one realizes that this can happen to anyone. We don't encounter much death here in Rocklin so it makes it harder for people to deal with it and overcome it. There was a candlelight get together at Whitney High School last night at 8 oclock. Many Rocklin High students attended as long as Whitney. Rocklin High students spoke such as Caity Alsobrook, Alyssa Buchanan, Drew Titus, Ryan Sicotte, and Ryan Turner, and many others. A poster was made for Peter allowing people to sign it. Last night at Whitney High School was very emotional. A student at Whitney said that the next day at school after the accident was horrible. People were crying all day and depressed as well. Also at the Whitney candlelight visual students from the school shared stories that they had with Peter. Students as well as the Rocklin community are getting together on Friday @ 4pm at the crime scene. So bring a balloon and watch it fly once the sun sets. Flowers and pictures of Peter are encouraged. A funeral service will also be held some time soon at the Adventure Christian Church.
