Whats a Thanksgiving?

I was watching America's Funniest Home Videos the other night, and during a commercial break ABC was advertising their "Countdown to 25 Days of Christmas". And that got me thinking, how often do you see anyone promoting Thanksgiving? Everyone seems to already be celebrating Christmas in November. Families get together for it, but the media seems to skip over it and just focus on Christmas. Everybody give thanks... for Christmas! In November! Anyone else think that it's kind of stupid?
