"Pants on the Ground"

Larry Platt at first glance may seem like just another person auditioning for American Idol determined to get their 15 minutes of fame. During Atlanta auditions for Season 9, the 62 year old performed his original song called "Pants on the Ground" about teenagers "sagging". The song was both humorous and catchy and became instantly popular. Simon even said, "I have a horrible feeling that song could be a hit." He may seem like just another William Hung, but most people do not know the true man behind the song. General Larry Platt was Civil rights activist and a student of Martin Luther King, Jr. In Georgia, there is even "Larry Platt Day" to honor him. As amusing and enjoyable his audition was, Larry Platt should not be known just "The Pants on the Ground" guy, but as a true hero.
