My New Professor

A stocky, aged man. He is possibly from Middle Eastern decent. But he seems to have adapted well to these United States when he moved here probably for school or after schooling. Anyways, he is here, settled in his niche at UC Davis. But what gets me the most is his accent. His enthusiasm fuels it by allowing it to range in sound and pitch. And he is covered in chalk dust from his rigorous writing because he is a fanatic about this subject. "Oiler (Euler) es the master o' matemateeks!" As goes his arabian inflections in his vocal chords.

Camping and Fireworks

This 4th of July has been the best of all the independence days that I can remember! On July 3rd we packed up our car and left for a camping trip. My mom, sister, and Jared headed up at about 10:00am to enjoy the lake and set up camp. Meanwhile my dad and brother-in-law, Jacob, were supposed to meet us there at 8:30pm because they both had to work. At the campsite we had an amazing time swimming in the lake up at Sugar Pine Forest. I recommend this spot for camping it had an amazing lake! Anyway, after we dried off and got camp set up, we played some card games to pass time until Dad and Jacob got there.

 It was 9:00pm and they still had not arrived which made us start to worry. We had no fire because they had the matches and It was getting dark. While forest noises started to fill our ears Jared starting naming every one we heard. "That's just someone walking to the bathroom... That's a squirrel... That's a dog barking." Finally we decided to get in our tent and enjoy the card game inside. Every time we heard a car drive by we, meaning the girls, rushed to the windows on the tent in hopes it would be Dad and Jacob in their white truck with two red canoes in the trunk. Jared made the side comment, "This is going to be a rough night when I am sleeping by the door and you girls climb over me every time a car drives by. Finally, at about 11:30pm we decided to get in the car and drive 'til we got cell service. As we drove to the exit of Sugar Pine a white truck with two red canoes honked at us. It was them! Coincidentally coming in at the same exact time we decided to leave!
Turned out they ended up in Truckee which is 2 hours away from Sugar Pine because they were chatting it up. We ended up having a great time waiting for them to arrive because of all the card games and jokes about why they were not there yet.

The next morning we packed up camp and headed to the lake to go on rope-swings and canoes. The water felt great! I probably went 5 times on the rope-swing. Jared and I swam across the lake which was a ton of fun. I would not hesitate to go camping at Sugar Pine again!
When we arrived home after our interesting camping experience we got dressed in our red, white, and blue in spirit of our country's birthday! We went to our usual spot for watching fireworks and got red and blue Slurpees from the AMPM gas station a block away. Although we have watched the fireworks in this place many times, this firework show was by far the best I have seen. We sprawled on the ground in hopes of feeling the thundering jolt of what we call "The Shotgun" fireworks. We ended up getting pieces of ashes in our eyes from the fireworks in result of them being right above us but it was completely worth it! What a show! I cannot wait until next year! 

I'm Home!

I just got back from Britain on Thursday, and boy is it nice to be home. I've been gone for a month, with spotty internet access, so this is my first chance to blog this summer!

It's almost 2 am right now, because I am SO jetlagged. Everyone says it's worse going east, but I always have thought it's much harder coming west. I was so exhausted, I went to bed around 4 pm, so I've already had about ten hours sleep. I hate jetlag. So much.

Anyway, Britain was AMAZING! I took so many pictures, and bought way too much stuff... my room's a tad crowded now.

AP Homework + Sickness = Not Fun

Gah. I really wish I did some of this before I left for France. Seriously. I didn't even do any over in France like I had planned to. Why? Because someone on the trip came with allergies (it wasn't freakin allergies I'll tell ya!) and then decided to give it to almost everyone else (5 people luckily escaped). I wasn't fortunate :( SO for about a week now, I have been getting over a cold that I received in France, and the best part about this is that I get to read AP Lit books. While my mind is still in it's fuzzy state.

I am still amazed at myself for having even a slight comprehension about it. But at least I got one book out of the way! yyyayyyy......... 3 or four more to go and then an AP Psyche book.... this is going to be a great way to immerse myself back into the Rocklin life- doing homework.

finally home and still tired

about four days ago- well, saturday at 11:30 PM, I got home from my two week vacation in France. I'm exhausted and still overwhelmed with everything that has happened. I had been waiting to go to Paris my entire life and I still can't believe that I can now say that I've not only been to Paris, but I've been on the Eiffel Tower, near le pont avignon, and Versailles- OH and Notre Dame. So many places in just a matter of a week. The first week was spent with a host family, who might I add, were the sweetest people on Earth! The second week was spent touring Nice, the city in which we had been living in for almost a week at that point, so we knew that by heart. Then we went up North and went to Paris for only 2 days. But along the way we stopped by Nimes, Antibes, Eze, Arles, (x?), and some other places that escape my memory at this point in time. Let's just say it was a whirlwind of adventure by the time we left Nice and started on our trip that would open our eyes to more French culture. I have to say, it was totally amazing. Pretty much everything I had ever dreamed of happened. I saw places I can cross off my bucket list now and it never even felt real. Ever. And now it feels like a surreal dream that I had. Makes me wish I could go back- which I will be some day in the future because this trip was just too amazing to not go on again. Europe has so much history behind it and I want to know more!!! But besides planning and saving up for that trip, I did some planning for this new school year and I am suppper psyched about next year's journalism staff!!! We are gonna have a LOT of fun!! I can't wait!!

My baby niece is here for the next two weeks and it's been three days already and I'm just completely exhausted. That, and it's worse when I can't sleep at night, so I ended up getting only three hours of sleep. But it's not my fault! I just wanna watch TV!

I'm such a hot mess right now. I guess there are summer meeting for AP Spanish last time I heard from DeMeyer, which was before the school year ended. And now I'm kind of rushing to try to figure things out, but I don't have time because of my niece. I have no idea when I'm supposed to get my senior portrait done. However, I get to cut my hair after that. Sweet sweet redemption! I can't wait to just take a pair of scissors and burn my hair :).

I have eight minutes until I have to wake my niece up from her nap... She's cute and all, but babies aren't my thing. I have so much to do, even though it's summer, I have been lagging on SO many things.

Busy Busy Busy

Originally, I thought that I would have a pretty relaxing summer. Well, I was wrong.

I have water polo 2 times a week (3 if I go to the scrimmages), summer homework for both French and English, church, working at vbs camps, thinking of fundraiser ideas, and going to my Australia meeting.

In short, I am TIRED. I was up at 7 every morning to be able to get to the vbs camp at 8. Then the camp ended at noon, so I was on the run from then until about 10 every night. During the camp, I had to deal with 2 very bad little 4th grade boys. UGHHHHHH!!!!!!!! Thankfully, I will never see them again and their parents did not ask me to babysit for them (If they did, I would have probably told them no).

Summer homework should have never been invented. We sign up for honors and AP  classes to be pushed harder and to become better in that subject. We take the classes DURING the school year. That should mean homework DURING the school year NOT during summer. It's not like people who have no interest in school sign up for these classes... People who actually want to, sign up. I know that they want summer homework to see if we are actually committed, but come on! Why would we sign up for these classes if we weren't?

If any of you have read my previous blog posts, you would know that I am going to Australia next summer. It costs A LOT of money to go, so I really need to fundraise. I have thought of doing a car wash, a bake sale, and selling my homegrown tomatoes, squash, and zucchini, but I don't have any more ideas. If any of you guys do, please tell me in the comment section! Thanks! I had my first meeting on Saturday. I expected all 22 of us to be there, but only seven of us showed. Three of the people are super awesome, but the other three just acted like they didn't want to be there. Oh well, the first three are super cool and I can tell that we will all have a good time together at all the meetings and on the trip.

Man, this is the most I have ever blogged. I feel very proud. :) I probably won't post this much again because I am never this busy, so oh well. I will post again in two more weeks. Goodbye!
